Alaşehir Basin
- Alasehir Basin is a Tertiary aged clastic basin and the third semi-mature HC exploration & production area in Turkey.
- Commercial oil of Sarıkız-1 and Alasehir-1 wells in the basin were discovered between 1999-2001 (31 and 37 API oil).
- Lower-Middle Miocene section in Alasehir fm. clastics are very rich in TOC (approx. 4-5%) and believed to be sourcing the oil occurence in Alasehir-Sarıkız oil field.

Prospects and Hydrocarbon System
Reservoir Rock: Clastics (deltaic, fluvial sandstone), basin floor fan’s and fractured zones of lacustrine limestones. Lagoonal limestones and the underlying sandstones are in the oil window with porosities above % 20-35 and permeabilities up to 10-100 md.
Cap Rock: Intraformational shales alternating with the sand- stones comprise cap rock characteristics.
