2D COAL SEISMIC

The identification of coal lodes by drilling takes so long time and also it costs very high. Because of this before the exploration drillings, it has to be interpretated the geological and geophysical datas for determining the TD’s and location of wells, minimize the exploration time and orientate the study.
The application of Refraction Seismic, which is one of the geophysics methods, in the world is date back to old times. Commonly Refraction Seismic is being used for oil and gas exploration but in last years this method is also being used for coal exploration successfully.
The seismic method, which is cheaper than the exploration drilling, will be executed for the calculation of dissemination, thickness, seal thickness and reservoir of the coal at AR-82493 and İR-1666 license areas which belong to Yeni Çeltek Kömür ve Madencilik Inc. Head Office in Suluova town in Amasya country.
At coal level, which is in Eocene deposit, facies and thickness differentiations can be occurred according to sedimentation environment. To determine these differentiations, High Definition seismic will execute after geological survey.
Merty Energy Inc. will execute High Definition seismic for coal exploration for the first time in Turkiye. The coal levels, thickness, dissemination zones and seal thickness can be determined with this method and also this method helps to maintain the investment program of the company. The seismic survey of the field, in which geological survey has been already finished, will start at the first quarter of 2009.
