Exploration History - Adana Basin
First commercial oil discovery was made by Mobil in 1960 in the Middle Miocene reefoidal limestones and fractured Pre-Miocene carbonates in the Bulgurdag oil field. Approximately 4 MMBO had been produced until the end of 2004. The field has still been producing today.
In 1960, the gas in the Sıraseki-1 well of Mobil was tested with 2.8 MM cuft/day. The biogenic gas in the Göztepe-1/a well of TPAO was also tested.
The Adana Basin extends in the NE-SW direction. The Ecemis Fault Zone is located along the western margin of the Adana-Clicia Basin. It is characterized by a series of NE trending step faults towards to east side of the basin. The Misis uplift which forms the eastern and Northwestern borders of the basin separates the Adana Neogene Basin from the Iskenderun Basin.Drifting of the Anatolian continent towards the northeast with the compressional movement during the Upper Miocene time developed the Misis Uplift on the east.
